Why does it take so long for a magazine subscription to start? One of the strange things about magazine subscriptions is that they seem to take "forever" before you receive the first issue. Magazine publishers determine their print quantities and assemble their mailing lists far in advance. In general, you should allow at least 6 weeks to receive the first issue of a weekly magazine, and 8 or 12 weeks for a monthly magazine.
